Music is one of the most incredible art forms in the world. It has the power to make people feel happy, loved and sad, almost everyone has a favourite song. It also has the ability to unite the world as one, to spread messages across to the masses and to challenge the status quo.
When I was asked to photograph the Rahat Fatah Ali Khan concert over a period of two years I was beyond excited. Music and Photography is a dream come true. Being so close to such a reputable artist was a real honour especially as he is the nephew of Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.
The atmosphere and electricity of a live crown is sensational and so unique. When the worlds, instruments and crowd connect as one the feeling is undesirable. I had goosebumps the whole way through.
The show was hosted by the beautiful and talented Sonia Deol who was a key part of the BBC Asian Network. Having worked with her over ten years a go made this project even more heartfelt. And being commissioned by the BBC, an honour too.
